Making a t-shirt smaller is easy, and fun refashion project!
Clothing alterations doesn’t have to be a complicated, long or arduous task.
Believe it or not, it can be quick, easy and stress free! One of the easiest ways to test this theory is to do upcycle t-shirts because they are the go-to garment for most of us.
If we make mistakes with a tee, it doesn’t seem to matter as much!
So many of us own at least a couple of t-shirts that are in need of a new lease of life so if you are going to begin refashioning garments, I’d recommend starting here.

The Supplies You will Need To Make A T-Shirt Smaller:-
- T-Shirt
- Scissors
- Tape Measure
- Marker
- Straight Pins
- Thread
How to Make A T-Shirt Smaller – A Quick Overview
1 – Try on your t-shirt and use a pin to indicate how much of the side seams you want to remove.
2 – Fold the t-shirt in half.
3 – Mark a line all the way down the body of your t-shirt.
4 – Using sharp scissors, cut along the line.
5 – Flip to the wrong side and pin the new side seams together.
6 – Stitch together using your preferred method (stretch stitch / zig-zag stitch / serge).
7 – A perfect fit 🙂

I have personally used this method of re-fashioning on lots of t-shirts.
About eight in fact at present and the list is growing. A couple have been my own tee’s but most have been ‘acquired’ from my hubby’s side of the wardrobe.
I don’t know about you, but I know that I will keep adding to my collection for many reasons.
Think about it, you’re actually stopping clothing going into landfill, you’re saving money and adding new, unique styles to your wardrobe.
All of this by simply changing the silhouette of an old t-shirt.

Let me share this great tip with you. Why not take a photo of yourself in the t-shirt before you refashion and sew it.
Once you’ve completed the project, take another photo and you’ll be amazed at how different it looks. You will see an instant change to your look!
